Salamanca

Salamanca is home to one of the oldest universities in the world and is a beautiful Castilian stone city.

The House of Shells is one of its landmarks.

The University of Salamanca was founded in 1218 and was one of the most important places of knowledge in the 16th century. Since that time its been said if you can find the frog on this wall, you will have good luck on your exams.

The food in Salamanca was excellent. This crab rice with baby squid was no exception.

French toast and ice cream!

Salamanca font is used all over the city. If it is in red, it may be written in bull blood!

The Convent of Saint Stephen is a 500 year old Dominican monastery.

It has a crazy staircase.

The Duke of Alba, one of the greatest generals of the 16th century, is buried here.

A beautiful Virgin Mary

The New Cathedral of Salamanca was built in the 16th century.

The Old Cathedral of Salamanca, built in the 13th century, is connected to the new one.

A 13th century weathervane, possibly from a mosque when Salamanca was ruled by Muslims.

These creatures are probably great tomb guardians.

Salamanca is a beautiful city, especially at night!
