Radimlja and Stolac

Radimlja is a medieval necropolis located a hour drive south of Mostar.

"Stecak" Orthodox tombstones from the 15th and 16th century lie on the ground next to the highway, guarded by a small metal fence.

Some tombs have designs I would assert to have pagan influence.

Nice bow

Stolac is the town just south of Radimlja. It is crowned with an impressive fortress.

I've seen better looking fowl in my day.

To drive from Mostar to Dubrovnik, we passed through the Republika Srpska, an autonomous Serbian region of Bosnia which wraps around the north and east sides of the country. The portion we drove through was eerily devoid of human life.

Following Google Maps, we drove to a local border crossing between Bosnia and Croatia, and had to weave through clusters of local horses when we were prohibited from crossing. If you are planning on crossing the border, follow the road signs to the main crossings.
